Its Been a Wonderful Easter Sunday !!!

Hello everyone, its been a great day. We are now in Carlisle PA at our 1/2 point between PA and VA..we were going to stay in Stroudsburgh PA for a day of rest, but we were well rested from a good night's sleep so we decided to motor on to Carlisle...it was only a 3 hr run which was a hop skip and jump for us considering we have been having major long driving days~~the trip down was awesome no problems at all ~we are in a gorgeous campground and what a wonderful charming town Carlisle is. All the homes are very well maintained, everyone has flowers blooming, the grass is green~people were out mowing their lawns. We went to Walmart after we got setup and purchased some RV wash to try and get some of the road grime off the rig. And yes!! everything is open here today.

We had a great easter dinner...ceasar salad, rolls, bbq steak, potatoes etc...very different than what we are used to doing on Easter, but also very enjoyable. We are missing our kids and families especially on this day...While I did the dishes, Rick started cleaning the outside of the RV and is almost finished. Lilly and I took a walk, now we are settling down to watch some Sunday night TV. Rick had previously set up our satellite.  Ta Ta for now..will upload today's pics later..the wifi is pretty slow here..take care all..and we hope you had a wonderful day!!! Because WE did...and we'll be staying here tomorrow for a  'rest' day..

Safe and Sound in PA

Mommie and Lilly out for stroll - Lilly needs 'doggels'

It has been two long days of travel. We have decided that we will stay here tonight and tomorrow night before heading onto Virginia. Firstly we  need to rest, and secondly the Rig needs some attention to try and get some of the road grime off of it. Lilly has been an excellent traveler. We have decided that we are pushing on too hard. We drove 13 hrs yesterday and 9 hours today...today was pretty much uneventful until approximately the last 26 kms to our destination. There was something big going on and we were all re routed, which took us totally off course. "Sally" was not impressed she had major difficulty 'recalculating'. There were firemen at all exits and we had to follow their direction and take a back country road. A snake would have a hard job navigating the narrow winding no guard rail no shoulder and broken pavement road we had to travel. Thankfully Rick was at the wheel and managed to do a fine job getting us through that mess. I was pretty stressed. We traveled the Kangamangus highway  in NH last year, and it seemed like a freshly paved interstate compared to this outhouse path we were on today. Main thing is we are safe and sound, we finally got out for a grocery order, Lilly is finally out of her seatbelt, which she has been living in for the last two days. Tomorrow we will hopefully sleep in, then putter around the RV..and have a day of rest. On Monday we will head out for VA. Have a happy easter everyone!!!!

Its Been A LONG Day........

We are finally parked and settled at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston. It was a long day 13 hours from the time we entered the rig till we parked it for the evening. Crossed at Houlton, no problems very nice security took a walk through the rig and wished us happy and safe traveling. Lilly wasn't too impressed that he dared to enter her domain. Shes been a great little traveler, traveling on the couch in her seatbelt on her bed.  We left the home door yard at 7:35 am NB time ~ had breakfast at the big stop in Lincoln and finally parked for the night at 8:35pm Maine time. We stopped in Bangor to purchase a data wireless stick~ugh the clerk missed a step in the setup after we paid in full and it took almost 2 hrs for her to fix the problem while on the phone with her tech support..and of course we all know how anal I am about customer service...but I bit my tongue and we got through it...then it was off to walmart to pick up a US cell phone which we had to log on the laptop in the parking lot to activate...and we all know how impressive I am with all these gadgets...all I know how to do is dial the phone...so there goes another hour of travel time..on the upside..it was a beautiful travel day, the phone did get activated...it was approx 70 degrees F...Lilly peed on command....and I didn't whine too much. Onward and upward toward Lewiston...we were tied up for over an hr on the interstate at a snails pace due to an accident approx 3 or 4 miles ahead of us. So Verizon thank you for the screwup..you may have saved our lives....we hauled into the Ramada Inn in Lewiston, where you can stay with  your RV free of charge and they provide you shower facilities, and electricity. How nice is that !!! We have approximately 4 other neighbours here in the lot with us. Of course the 'man' was getting hungry we hadn't eaten since breakfast, and of course we thought well we will do the grocery thing in Lewiston as we will be there nice and early. It was pretty hard to make a meal out of dog food and pepsi so we unhitched the 'dirty road grimed' car and off we went in search of a grocery store. We did find a shaws so we stocked on essentials only ~found a car wash~ grabbed macdonalds and came back to the rig. Tomorrow we are off to Stroudsburg PA...hopefully we have a shorter day of travel. Its off to bed for us shortly~until tomorrow folks.....ta ta...

We are ready!!!! i think????

We have started the camping season many times in the past and done the typical loading of stuff we think we need for the first weekend out but never worried too much about if we had everything. Now this year we are coming out of winter storage and going on the road for 5 to 6 weeks and a couple of thousand miles from home so the loading took a bit more preparation and time, I think we have enough "stuff" to last the first year at least and you know we are going to be near a Wall-mart every day so if we missed something we can buy it. Just have to make sure I have Elaine and Lilly on board in the morning and we are set to roll.

Destination for tomorrow is a first stop in Bangor to get the communications gear cell phone and a Verizon internet stick for the laptop and a few groceries. After that stop hopefully not more than 2 hours it is further south on I95 to Lewis ton ME for the night. Google maps tells us its 401 miles from home so its going to be a long day but we do want to get as far south as possible the first day. Second night (Saturday) the tentative plan is to make Stroudsburg PA almost another 400 miles.

The weather is looking good except for a bit of morning fog and warming up real nice on Saturday so hopefully its going to be a great trip. Will post Friday night if we have Internet connection. Maybe even a picture for a change.

A little bit closer

Wow cold day here -13c this AM and did not get over 3C all day. Did get the storage bays all cleaned out on Miss daisy and some other little jobs done that are on the list like fixing the 30amp extension cord, running the jacks up and down a few times to make sure they are working OK don't need them sticking down the first morning we want to leave early. Looks like we are getting rain until Friday so not going to be a good week for loading and preparing for takeoff. We have to take the rig out and have the propane tank filled so we will have the furnace for the first few nights of cool temps.

Time is getting close. Just another week

Well Miss Daisy has a clean bill of health even had a front axle seal replaced while she was in for service. We have been busy cleaning and sorting out and removing "stuff" that we have been hauling around for a few years. Whenever we have traded rigs  (4 times in the last 6 years) the stuff that was on the previous rig just moved to the new rig so it is time to clean some of it out to make room for new "stuff".

Last weekend all the dishes were taken to the house washed and then placed back in the MH. The ceiling and walls were all washed down. Today I checked the tire pressure then went inside and reattached the fascia on the atrium slide that took a bad hit last year when attempting to put the slide out with the slide lock still in place ( end of using the slide locks they are now in the shed) . Fixed the middle support for the hanger pole in the bedroom closet that came loose on a large pot hole someplace in Ontario and dropped all the clothes on the floor of the closet..

Anyway things are taking shape and next weekend is the planned departure date with a current destination of Myrtle Beach SC then over to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge before returning back home early to mid May.

The List is Getting Longer!! And the Excitement is Building

Yesterday Miss Daisy was taken out of storage and is currently sitting in our front driveway, in preparation of our departure. We plan and hope to be able to depart anytime after our appointments on April 1st. Rick installed a new mud sweep on her yesterday. Tomorrow the toad goes to the dealer to have the snow tires changed to the summer tires, and the motor home has an appointment at the dealer on Thurs of this week to be serviced, brakes flushed, and inspected. Now to find all the 'summer' clothes and pack the rig, needless to say I'm beginning to have 'lists for my lists'. On the 1st Rick has a dental appt, I have a specialist appt, and Lilly has an appointment at the beauty parlor. Between now and then, I have to deliver our income tax to the accountant, other people's income tax to complete for them, office work to catch up on and the usual house work etc. etc..you all know the drill. We are really looking forward to getting away. I think deep down the excitement is building, but there is just so much to accomplish before we hitch up and roll out~will keep you updated.

Making Plans

Well March has come and we have been very delinquent in posting but there has been nothing new to post. Things have been busy in the office with us trying to get things all set up so we can have some time off.

The PLAN today is to dig Miss Daisy out of the snow by early April we have Dr's appointments on the 6th so maybe the 7th will be take off day. WE hope to head to Myrtle Beach SC for a few weeks returning mid May have to be here for Victoria day weekend for the family camp out.
                                                    Victoria Day Weekend 2009

If anybody has any tips on traveling from Maine to SC leave us a comment this is uncharted travel for us but the planning started weeks ago for routes and campgrounds etc. The first couple of nights will have to be a boon-dock site as not many CG's open by early April.

OK have to run and get back to more planning.
